Red Riding

Red Riding

It seems like forever ago I was busy in the studio with this piece, and since my duties as a designer can to flick from fun and messy artworks to more important client matter I sometimes forget to reflect of the fun stuff. So while I have the opportunity, I would love to share this piece particularly. I have always admired the work of Italian artist, Nicoletta Ceccoli, for her ghostly figures and dark content, which has reflected in this piece, ‘Red Riding‘. This piece started out as a thumbnail sketch for composition purposes, all lines drawing in to the subject matter, and it grew quickly into ‘Little Red’ on the run with the addition of a little watercolour and my pine wood floors. The oval shape of her face repeats in the knots and grains in the timber landscapes, which describes a sense of fear and urgency. A conflicting urge to lay down in submission or get up and run. The signature crows add an eerie sound to this piece and builds on that feeling of fear and...
Native Cat

Native Cat

This sketch of a Quoll, or Native Cat, was referenced from an image produced by the Kerry studio for a series of postcards. In the mid 1800’s—1920’s documenting these specimens with early cameras presented many obstacles. Warm in Winter single cover

Warm in Winter single cover

One of my drawings made its way onto my most adored singer/songwriters single cover this month. The ever so lovely, Josh Pyke, asked followers to submit an image that ‘Warm In Winter’ meant to them, and the image it conjured in my mind was a playful scene of two foxes wrapped in a game of tackle. The finished piece was created with colour pencils on sketch paper, and a little ps finishing for the added heat spots on the fox and position some handwritten type. I was pretty chuffed and extremely honoured to have my work selected for this single cover. It was my favourite track on first listen, and will always be. Thanks so much JP! Purchase this beautiful song on...
